For the increasingly popular technique of Light Rock Fishing, the lures Xesta Mini After Burner are an excellent choice if you are targeting species such as sea bass, wrasse, black seabream, rockfish, bream, and even snapper. Depending on the size and technique, you can also target goby, scorpionfish, and sea bream.
Having unique expertise in lure manufacturing, Xesta has deployed all its technical knowledge and incorporated it into lightweight metal lures.
The colors of these lures are the first characteristic that captures attention.
However, Xesta didn't stop at the finishing touches but also invested in the longevity of its indelible colors. The colors of After Burner Mini will withstand bites and remain "vibrant" for many fishing trips. The color schemes of After Burner lures feature holograms, 3D scales, and mirrors to create the perfect effect. The realistic eyes complete the image and they remain in place even after multiple uses.
These specific Micro Jigs have a very well designed geometric shape and a perfectly balanced body, which gives them a unique movement. A characteristic of Xesta After Burner lures is the placement of their center of gravity in the middle of their body, making them easy to use even for beginners in Light Rock Fishing (LRF).
Additionally, you will notice the flat surface of the head, which allows the lure to have minimal resistance in the water and enables us to retrieve it easily and quickly within the strike zone, while being minimally affected by sea currents.
The Xesta After Burner lures have a unique darting action, but upon contact with the water, they start to perform lateral movements - to the right and left - simulating the behavior of an injured small fish, while simultaneously making fluttering motions like a falling leaf. Their sinking speed can be characterized as slow to moderate.
Something very common with this lure is that anglers often don't need to do anything, as many strikes occur during the free fall. However, small, quick jerks of the fishing rod and subsequent releases will provide the necessary lifelike action that the lure needs to deceive even the most skeptical prey.
Fish them with successive jerks and intermittent pauses, allowing them to sink towards the bottom and showcase their action. If you choose to fish them in midwater, you can try a steady retrieve with the rod tip towards the surface, enriching the movement with small jerks.
The Xesta After Burner Mini is equipped with two rings, one at the front and one at the back. It comes with Cultiva ST-36BC treble hooks for durability, even after multiple strikes. Use a leader for rigging, and if you prefer variations, try adding assist hooks to the front ring.
For fishing with them, use a thin line ranging from 0.4 to 0.6 PE and a rod with a casting weight below 10 grams.
Many users of these specific lures prefer models that come with both a treble hook and an assist hook, and depending on the technique they will use them for (LRF, Shore Jigging), they make their own modifications.
Lures that only have treble hooks often result in shallow hooksets and can get snagged frequently on the bottom. The treble hook alone can catch fish with large mouths, but it can also lead to missed hookups and lost fish.
Lures that only have Assist Hooks significantly reduce the chances of snagging on the bottom. Additionally, the low weight and small size of the Assist Hooks allow them to be easily engulfed by the fish during the striking phase, resulting in a secure hookset. It is recommended to use single or double Assist Hooks when fishing close to the bottom or in areas with challenging terrain.
Double Micro Assist Hooks are not suitable for any particular species, especially blackfish, sea bream, and porgies. By using only micro assist hooks, you can achieve even better lure action, particularly during the sinking phase, without unnecessary metallic noises. Shore jigging enthusiasts will already be familiar with this aspect.
Rigging with both a rubber jig and assist hooks ensures secure hooksets, as the combination of rubber jig and assist hook leaves little room for the fish to escape. However, it also leaves little room for the lure itself if it becomes entangled in the seabed. This combination is ideal for fishing in shallow depths for species such as wrasses, sea bream, and blackfish, when you want to avoid getting too close to the bottom.
