The workshop of Nerdfishing presents a very ambitious project aimed at creating silicon lures for Mediterranean waters and fish - designed, tested, and made in Greece.
Nothing can resist a small Silicone Squid - as long as it is made in the right size, shape, and scent exclusively for our waters and fish. The Worthy Squid hides many hours of design detail and as many hours of fishing on the rocks.
The squid lure incorporates a clever idea. Its middle tentacles have paddle tails, which means a small 'flap' at the end. This gives them a distinctive movement, similar to minnow-type silicone lures of this kind. The side tentacles are essentially curly tails, reinforced at the tips.
Essentially, it creates a unique movement by combining elements from two types of silicone lures. The body with the side fins is designed to give the artificial bait a horizontal position. This provides stability during retrieval and steady movement even during pauses.
The head is designed to be more bulky in order to accommodate a sufficient amount of material around the hook's tip, securely anchoring it and resisting breakage - something incredibly important for such a small artificial lure.

The lure has been crafted in such a way to be durable but above all, versatile. It has been taken into account that one of the main issues with silicone lures in our waters is the cuts that render them unusable. Giorgos Kalaganis and Giorgos Tyrikos have offered a fresh perspective that simultaneously opens up multiple avenues in our strategy. If one of the tentacles is cut, the lure can still perform remarkably with the remaining ones, as each one has its own distinct movement. Another approach is to remove the corresponding tentacle and work with the other two. There are three ways to work with it based on which tentacles we have left or which ones we choose to keep.
When we hold all the tentacles, the lure showcases its grace, especially during fast retrieves. It is the best way to bring the 4 tentacles to life and highlight their movement. The Squid with 4 tentacles can be worked from bottom fishing to intense darting. As we approach higher in the water column, our approach becomes more aggressive, as we need sufficient energy for it to work in full mode. This approach is ideal for days with active fish that feed on fast retrieves in shallow areas or even midwater with intense darting during the warm months of the year. Giant saddled bream, cuttlefish, and large sea bream have appreciated this form, caught in many parts of Greece.
The version of the lure that performs exceptionally well in slow, steady retrieves and the version that has unlocked the secrets of catching giant saddled bream and even trophy-sized sea bass - a technique highly regarded in LRF (Light Rock Fishing). With the absence of middle tentacles, the Worthy Squid creates space in front of its head, showcasing the well-designed side curly tails with a truly mesmerizing movement. Even with a very slow retrieve, its swimming action is fantastic, making it ideal for exploring the water column from the seafloor to the surface.
