Information

The 5 Japanese steel bearings of the enclosed type, located at the "heart" of Cortez, are surrounded by an ultra-lightweight, compact graphite body, giving it an extra reason to be considered a "beast" of a reel.

The carbon brake system (carbonite drag system) take off the power of the mechanism which, despite its small size, reaches the 8.2kg brake power and make it capable of dealing with any prey while the compact and pop-up aluminium handle with oversized grip, gives even more ease and power in handling during the "battle".

Pop-up brake lever (aluminium star drag) Dual anti - reverse system, but also a magnetic control system for controlling the lowering/raising of the bait (magnetic control system) are some of the functions of the new Cortez that will amaze even the most demanding anglers but will also bring the newest ones into the game, since its low price makes it accessible to everyone.

Finally, the steel base in combination with the emerging aluminium boom make the 10cs a "fighting" mechanism, i.e. whatever the fishing technique calls for jigging but also Slow Jigging. One can also fish with zoka and with silicones.

Technologies :

The technology XL Gearing Okuma is based on the larger size of the components that make up the 50% brake system than the corresponding size of other mechanisms. For the brake gear, this means larger "teeth", so you can apply more force, as they have much more strength. Okuma has been able to use this technique to build high-speed mechanisms without losing brake power. Okuma's XL Gearing technology turns your mechanism into a winch.

The technology Magnetic Control System by Okuma utilizes the magnetic field created by the transmission shaft as it rotates. The slider on the Cortez's side frame allows us to control the opposing force exerted on the shaft and thus control its rotation. In this way we can also control the lowering speed of the planer. This system is 100% watertight.

The manufacturing technology "Carbonite." by Okuma involves a new, revolutionary carbon material that dissipates the heat that develops in the gears due to friction. The Carbonite material combined with the use of Okuma's special grease maximizes smooth brake performance even under the most challenging combat conditions.

The Automatic Lubrication System is usually found on Okuma's more expensive models and is an Okuma innovation. The main gear of the mechanism includes a lubricant-soaked, copper ring at its center. Should friction - and therefore temperature - increase, the ring releases lubricant, which ensures that the gear and the shaft co-operate smoothly.

The cranks of the mechanisms Okuma have an Ergonomic Handle, larger in size than usual, more comfortable and designed to give the mechanism more power and speed. The handle is designed to fit comfortably in your palm and not tire the hand even after many hours of fishing.

The technology Instant Reversal does not allow the crank to move, which is achieved by fitting a stainless steel, steel bearing which allows the mechanism to move in only one direction.

The Mechanical Stabilisation System of Okuma (Mechanical Stabilizing System - MSS) is a single support system which connects together the drum shaft, the central gear, the drive gear and the transmission shaft. While competing commercial mechanisms provide minimal gear stabilization, Okuma's patented system keeps all of these important components in perfect alignment. The advantages of the MSS system are seen in line fishing, or wire fishing, as it supports the drum shaft at 3 points, resulting in stability, strength, smooth operation and durability.
